Community Service, New VDOT Course, Advisory Teleconference Update

Community Service: NUCA of VA is Building a NEW Training Facility

NUCA of Virginia is working to build a new concrete ditch and confined space training facility for the Virginia Department of Fire Programs. With the help of NUCA of VA members, we plan to build the facility free of charge.

Thanks to member donations, we now have all of the materials for the confined space facility. W.C. Spratt, Inc. donated 48 inch concrete pipe, and Concrete Pipe and Precast donated a large manhole.

NEW: VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Course

NUCA of Virginia's Jim Stepahin is now certified to teach the VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Course. This is a two-day course that includes morning donuts and coffee, lunch, course materials, and a VDOT certification card.

You can register for the monthly course at the NUCA office in Fairfax, VA by visiting www.nucaofva.com/training, or you can email Jim to set up an on-site course at your facility (10 student minimum).

October 4th Advisory Teleconference

All chapter members are invited to participate on the NUCA of VA Advisory Committee. With just 30 minutes a month, you could provide valuable insight and recommendations. Teleconferences are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00pm EST. Email Jessicato be added to the list.
